Tris joined the Office of Assessment as Assistant Director in the summer of 2014. In this role he serves the GT campus in a number of ways. He oversees administration of the Course Instructor Opinion Survey (CIOS) system, manages the Online Assessment Tracking System (OATS) for annual program assessment updates along with providing feedback and consultation about those updates, consults with faculty and administrators to help them plan, implement, and assess educational innovations and activities, and provides advice and assistance in writing assessment and evaluation plans for educational research grants.

Prior to joining the Office of Assessment, Tris spent eight years in the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning at Georgia Tech as Assistant Director for the Scholarship and Assessment of Teaching and Learning.  Formerly, he was a tenured Associate Professor of Engineering Physics at Lewis-Clark State College.  Tris is President of the IGIP National Monitoring Committee USA, and he is past president of the Academy of Process Educators.  He has regularly published and presented work on a variety of topics including assessment instruments and methodologies, using technology in the classroom, faculty development in instructional design, and investigating the efficacy of different pedagogical approaches and interventions.  Tris completed his PhD in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
