Two Professors Selected as Woodruff Faculty Fellow, Woodruff Professor
September 28, 2021
Two professors in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering have been selected as a Woodruff Faculty Fellow and Woodruff Professor in recognition of their exceptional research initiatives.
Associate Professor W. Hong Yeo has been named a Woodruff Faculty Fellow and Professor Ting Zhu has been named a Woodruff Professor.
Yeo’s research focuses on the areas of nano-/microengineering, advanced soft materials, molecular interactions, and bio-electromechanical systems, with an emphasis on stretchable hybrid electronics. The Woodruff Faculty Fellow award is accompanied by discretionary funds that amount to $12,000 a year, meant for the recipients to continue to grow their research programs. Yeo is the third Woodruff Faculty Fellow to be named this year, joining previous recipients Marta Hatzell and Matt McDowell who were selected in June.
Zhu’s research focuses on the modeling and simulation of mechanical behavior of materials at the nano- to macroscale. The Woodruff Professor award is accompanied by discretionary funds that amount to $25,000 a year, meant for the recipient to support their research activities. The appointment has a five-year term renewable by the School Chair.
