Professional Summary
Prior to joining Georgia Institute of Technology, Hummel spent five years as an Assistant Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Kennesaw State University (KSU). His primary role at KSU was teaching and developing different nuclear engineering courses as part of the minor degree program. Before KSU, Hummel spent three and a half years as an R&D Nuclear Engineer at the Idaho National Laboratory. Much of his research has revolved around reactor physics design and analysis, particularly core design and modeling and simulation. Hummel has also worked for Hopewell Designs, Inc, assisting with various irradiator system designs and shielding analysis. He earned both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Nuclear Engineering from Oregon State University and his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Tulane University.
